Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 5th, 2026

Last Updated: July 9th, 2026 — adds Section 10 (Plotmi Stage), Section 7.1 (Stage carve-out from the NDA), Section 7.2 (no license to copy or redistribute), Section 8.1 (Stage voice notes), Section 5.1 (automated screening), and Section 4.3.1 (scope of the public display license). Sections previously numbered 10 through 28 are renumbered 11 through 29. No prior provision has been removed.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Plotmi, a platform owned and operated by Plotmi LLC ("Plotmi," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, accessing the platform, or using any feature, you agree to be bound by these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Confidentiality & NDA, the Refund Policy, the Cookies Policy, the DMCA Policy, and the GDPR Policy. If you do not agree to any of these, do not use Plotmi.

1. Platform Purpose & Scope

Plotmi is a community platform for readers, writers, and people who love stories. We provide several distinct surfaces, each with its own purpose and norms:

  • Reader Sanctum — personal profile spaces where users collect stamps, build their reading/viewing identity, and earn Plotmi Letters through engagement.
  • Writer's Sanctum — private workspaces where writers develop, organize, and refine their unpublished work.
  • The Circle — the public community feed for posts, reactions, predictions, weekly Plotmi-generated content, and writer promos.
  • Plotmi Vibes — a stamp-based system for cataloging your taste in films, books, and television.
  • Sneak Peeks — short previews of unpublished work shared by writers for community feedback.
  • Plotmi Stage — public reading rooms where a writer publishes a work and readers read it, react to individual passages with stamps and seals, leave written notes, and may leave a single voice note at the end. Stage includes the writer's public storefront page, the Stage discovery page, and the writer-facing Stage Insights dashboard.
  • Plotmi Library — a reader's collection of works, which the reader may choose to make publicly visible.
  • Writer Storefront — a writer's public page for presenting themselves and their work, and where enabled, linking to points of sale.
  • Full Reports — deeper paid or invited reader engagements with full manuscripts, including written feedback and optional voice memos.
  • Chatmi — private direct messaging between users.
  • The Lab & Cue Cards — collaborative workspaces for co-writers and trusted collaborators.
  • Plotmi Clubs — book clubs, script clubs, and other community gathering spaces.
  • Plotmi Elite & Business Tools — premium offerings for industry professionals.
  • Plotmi Reports & Behavioral Analytics — engagement signals and insights derived from reader interactions.

These Terms apply to all of the above and to any new features Plotmi launches.

2. Eligibility & Account Registration

2.1 Age Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old to use Plotmi. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If we discover that an account belongs to a minor, we will terminate it.

2.2 Account Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update it as needed. You may not impersonate another person, create accounts under false identities, or misrepresent your affiliation with any individual or entity.

2.3 One Account Per Person

Each individual may maintain only one personal account unless otherwise authorized by Plotmi in writing. Multiple-account abuse — including creating accounts to manipulate engagement, votes, stamps, or game outcomes — is grounds for immediate termination of all related accounts.

2.4 Account Security

You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@plotmi.com if you suspect unauthorized access. Plotmi is not liable for losses resulting from compromised accounts caused by your failure to safeguard credentials.

3. User Roles & Responsibilities

Plotmi users fall into one or more roles. The same person can be both a reader and a writer.

3.1 Readers

  • Engage with sneak peeks, full reports, posts, and community features in good faith.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding any unpublished work accessed through the platform.
  • Provide honest, constructive feedback when invited to do so.
  • Honor any reader-specific agreements, deadlines, or commitments made through the platform.

3.2 Writers

  • Only upload work that you own or have full legal rights to share.
  • Disclose collaborators, co-authors, and rights holders accurately.
  • Treat readers with respect; do not retaliate against honest feedback.
  • Do not solicit readers off-platform to circumvent Plotmi systems.

3.3 All Users

  • Use the platform lawfully and in good faith.
  • Respect other users, regardless of their opinions, taste, identity, or work.
  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, hack, or interfere with platform systems.
  • Do not use bots, automation, or scripts to interact with the platform.
  • Do not engage in harassment, hate speech, threats, doxxing, or any conduct that creates a hostile environment.

4. User-Generated Content

4.1 Content You Submit

"User Content" includes everything you upload, post, write, record, or otherwise contribute to Plotmi: manuscripts, scripts, sneak peeks, promos, posts, reactions, comments, profile information, voice memos, stamps, Vibes selections, Chatmi messages, Lab notes, cue cards, and anything else.

4.2 You Retain Ownership

You retain ownership of all original creative work you upload to Plotmi. We do not claim ownership of your manuscripts, scripts, or other creative content.

4.3 License to Plotmi

By submitting User Content, you grant Plotmi a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, display, transmit, analyze, and operate on that content solely for the purpose of providing the platform's services to you. This license includes:

  • Storing your content on our servers.
  • Displaying it to users you have granted access to (e.g., readers you have invited to your sneak peek).
  • Generating analytics, reports, and insights from engagement signals.
  • Transcribing voice memos via third-party APIs (where you opt in).
  • Backing up content for security and continuity purposes.
  • Reproducing, publicly displaying, publicly performing, and transmitting any content you affirmatively designate as public — including works published to Plotmi Stage, storefront pages, public Libraries, and Circle posts — to other users, to visitors holding a share link, and within Plotmi's own discovery, promotional, and search surfaces. This sub-license is non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, and exists solely to operate the surfaces you chose to publish to.
  • Displaying, alongside a public work, its title, cover image, banner, author portrait, pen name, handle, and any promotional copy you supply.
  • Storing, displaying, and moderating reader-submitted reactions, stamps, seals, notes, and voice notes associated with a work, and transcribing reader voice notes for the moderation purposes described in Section 10.

We do not use your creative work to train AI models. We do not sell your content. We do not publish, distribute, or share your content without your explicit permission. Designating a work, Library, or storefront as public within the platform constitutes that permission for the surfaces on which you published it, and only for those surfaces.

4.3.1 Scope and Termination of the Public Display License

The public display license in Section 4.3 begins when you designate content as public and ends when you unpublish it or delete your account, subject to Section 10.15 (persistence of cached copies, share links, and third-party archives, which Plotmi cannot control or recall). This license does not permit Plotmi to sell, license, sublicense to third parties for their own use, adapt, or commercially exploit your creative work, and it does not permit Plotmi to continue displaying a work you have unpublished.

4.4 Content You Are Responsible For

  • You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights to the content you submit.
  • You are solely responsible for the legality, accuracy, and appropriateness of your content.
  • You agree to indemnify Plotmi against any claims arising from your content.

4.5 Prohibited Content

You may not upload or submit content that:

  • Infringes any copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property right.
  • Is defamatory, libelous, or knowingly false.
  • Contains child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexual content involving minors. Such content will be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Promotes violence, terrorism, or illegal activity.
  • Constitutes harassment, hate speech, or threats against any individual or group.
  • Contains malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
  • Violates the privacy rights of others.
  • Is generated entirely by AI and submitted as your original work without disclosure (see Section 6).

5. Mature Content & Creative Work

Plotmi hosts a wide range of creative work from independent writers. Sneak peeks, full reports, serialized material, promo posts, and any other content shared on the platform may contain mature themes, including but not limited to:

  • Violence, gore, or graphic physical harm.
  • Sexual content or sexually explicit material.
  • Drug, alcohol, or substance use.
  • Strong language, profanity, or slurs used in narrative context.
  • Trauma, abuse, mental illness, or disturbing imagery.
  • Themes related to death, suicide, self-harm, or other heavy subject matter.
  • Political, religious, or socially charged themes.
  • Any other content typical of unfiltered creative work.

By accessing any work on Plotmi, you acknowledge that creative work reflects the artistic vision of its author, and you accept that you may encounter content you find uncomfortable, objectionable, or distressing. Plotmi does not pre-screen, rate, or label individual works for content. If you encounter content that you believe violates our community guidelines (Section 12) or is illegal under applicable law, you may report it to support@plotmi.com.

You access creative work on Plotmi at your own discretion. If you are sensitive to certain themes, you should consider that before engaging with sneak peeks, full reports, or any user-submitted creative content.

5.1 Automated Screening Is Not Pre-Screening of Creative Work

Plotmi applies automated screening to reader-submitted material — including notes, reactions, and voice notes on Plotmi Stage — as described in Section 10.8. This screening exists to protect users from abuse. It is not a review, rating, endorsement, or approval of any writer's creative work, and it does not constitute pre-screening within the meaning of the preceding paragraph.

Automated screening is imperfect. It will sometimes block material that does not violate these Terms, and it will sometimes fail to block material that does. Plotmi makes no warranty that any screening system will detect all prohibited content, and Plotmi is not liable for content that passes screening or for legitimate content that screening rejects.

6. AI-Generated Content Policy

Plotmi values human creativity. While we recognize that AI tools may play a role in modern writing workflows, we maintain the following standards:

  • Content submitted as "your original work" must be substantially authored by you.
  • If AI tools were used meaningfully in developing a manuscript, we encourage disclosure to readers.
  • Submitting fully AI-generated content as your own original creative work — particularly for paid reader engagements — may result in account suspension.
  • Using AI tools to generate fake reader feedback, fake reactions, or fake engagement is strictly prohibited and is grounds for immediate termination.

7. Confidentiality & NDA

All unpublished creative work shared on Plotmi — sneak peeks, full reports, Writer's Sanctum materials, Lab collaborations, voice memos, Chatmi messages discussing creative work, and promo content — is considered confidential. By using Plotmi, you agree to be bound by our Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreement, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.

Violations of the NDA are grounds for immediate account termination and may result in legal action, including claims for monetary damages and injunctive relief.

7.1 Stage Carve-Out

Work that a writer affirmatively publishes to Plotmi Stage, to a public storefront, or to any other surface designated public by that writer is not Confidential Information and is not subject to the NDA. A writer who publishes to Stage has chosen to disclose that work to the Plotmi readership. Nothing in the NDA restricts a reader from discussing, reviewing, recommending, or forming opinions about a work published to Stage.

This carve-out exists to preserve the force of the NDA where confidentiality is real. Confidential Information continues to mean, without limitation: full report manuscripts, sneak peeks, Writer's Sanctum materials, Lab and Cue Card collaborations, report chatroom discussions, private Chatmi correspondence, and any work shared with a limited or invited audience. Publishing one work to Stage does not waive confidentiality over any other work, over earlier drafts of the same work, or over any material shared through any other Plotmi surface.

7.2 No License to Copy, Republish, or Redistribute

Stage work is published, not licensed to you. Access to Plotmi requires an account, and works on Stage are made available only to authenticated Plotmi users and to persons holding a share link. Your access grants you a personal, revocable, non-transferable right to read a work on the platform. It grants you no right to:

  • Copy, download, scrape, screenshot in bulk, mirror, archive, or otherwise reproduce a work in whole or in substantial part.
  • Republish, redistribute, sell, license, or post a work or any substantial portion of it, on or off Plotmi.
  • Create derivative works, adaptations, translations, audio recordings, or performances of a work without the writer's express written permission.
  • Use any work, in whole or in part, to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or prompt any machine learning or artificial intelligence system.
  • Use automated means — bots, crawlers, headless browsers, or scripts — to access, extract, or index Stage content.

The writer retains all copyright in the work. These restrictions survive termination of your account and are enforceable by Plotmi, by the writer, or by both. Nothing in this Section limits fair use, quotation for the purpose of criticism or review, or any other right you hold under applicable copyright law.

8. Voice Memos & Transcription

Plotmi offers optional voice memo features in Full Reports (for reader feedback) and in The Lab / Cue Cards (for collaborator notes). By choosing to use voice features, you acknowledge:

  • Voice recording is fully optional. You are never required to leave a voice memo to use Plotmi.
  • Voice content is transmitted to a third-party AI transcription service solely for transcription purposes.
  • Plotmi does not sell your voice data, train models on it, or repurpose it.
  • Voice memos and their transcriptions are confidential and subject to our NDA.
  • Additional disclosures regarding voice data, retention, and your control over it are available in the Privacy Policy and at each voice-enabled surface.

8.1 Stage Voice Notes Are Different

Voice notes left on Plotmi Stage are governed by Section 10.7 and are subject to rules that do not apply elsewhere. In summary, and without limiting Section 10.7:

  • A reader may leave one voice note per work, recorded only after reaching the end of that work.
  • Every Stage voice note is transcribed and screened before the writer receives it. The writer does not hear a voice note that has not passed screening.
  • Transcripts of voice notes that fail screening are retained and reviewed by Plotmi for enforcement purposes, and may be used as evidence in a suspension or termination decision.
  • Stage voice notes are delivered privately to the writer of the work. They are not published to other readers unless the reader has separately designated them public.
  • Stage voice notes are not Confidential Information under the NDA, per Section 7.1.

9. Behavioral Analytics & Reports

Plotmi provides analytics derived from reader engagement signals — such as navigation behavior, time spent, interaction patterns, stamps, reactions, and optional voice feedback. These reports are made available to writers about their own work.

  • Reports are informational only. They are not predictive of commercial success, critical reception, market performance, or publishability.
  • Reader opinions and behavioral data are subjective and may not represent broader audience sentiment.
  • Data collection may contain errors, omissions, or technical inaccuracies.
  • Reports should be considered one input among many in your creative and business decisions.
  • Plotmi expressly disclaims all warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any report or data.

9.1 Report Chatrooms

Certain report purchases include access to an optional private chatroom that remains open for a limited period (e.g., five days) so a writer and their readers can discuss the work. The following applies to all report chatrooms:

  • The paid deliverable is the report itself. Chatroom access is an additional, optional feature offered alongside the report — it is not the product being purchased.
  • Reader participation in any chatroom is entirely voluntary. Readers are under no obligation to accept a chatroom invitation, respond, or remain in a room, and may decline or leave at any time.
  • Plotmi does not guarantee that any reader will accept an invitation or participate, and a reader declining or not engaging does not entitle the purchaser to a refund or credit.
  • Chatrooms close automatically at the end of their window and cannot be reopened or extended.
  • All chatroom conduct is subject to Section 12 (Community Conduct & Moderation) and the Confidentiality & NDA. Plotmi may moderate, remove, or terminate access for any user who violates these Terms, and reported violations may result in suspension or a ban.

10. Plotmi Stage

Plotmi Stage is a public reading room. A writer publishes a work; readers read it inside Plotmi and respond to it passage by passage. This Section governs Stage in its entirety — publishing, reading, reacting, moderation, analytics, storefronts, and Libraries — and controls over any conflicting provision elsewhere in these Terms with respect to Stage.

10.1 Stage Is Public Within Plotmi

Publishing a work to Stage makes it visible to every authenticated Plotmi user, and to any person holding a share link the writer distributes. Plotmi may also feature a Stage work on discovery, search, recommendation, and promotional surfaces within the platform. Publishing to Stage is an act of publication. Do not publish work to Stage that you are not prepared to have read, discussed, quoted in review, and reacted to by strangers.

Plotmi requires an account for access. This is a platform control, not a promise of secrecy. Plotmi does not warrant that a Stage work will remain within the platform, that no reader will copy or screenshot it, or that no share link will be forwarded. Section 7.2 restricts what readers may lawfully do; it does not make those things technically impossible.

10.2 Writer Representations When Publishing

By publishing any work, cover, banner, portrait, pen name, tagline, quotation, or other material to Stage or to a storefront, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are the sole author, or you hold all rights necessary to publish and publicly display the work on Plotmi.
  • No publisher, agent, co-author, collaborator, employer, or other rights holder has an exclusive right that publication would breach. If your work is under an option, an exclusivity clause, a first-look deal, or a publishing contract, publishing it to Stage may breach that agreement, and that is your risk, not Plotmi's.
  • The work does not infringe any copyright, trademark, right of publicity, moral right, or trade secret.
  • The work does not defame any identifiable living person, and any depiction of a real person is either factually accurate or clearly fictional.
  • The work is not, and does not contain, child sexual abuse material or sexual content involving minors.
  • You have disclosed collaborators and rights holders accurately, and you have their consent where required.

You indemnify Plotmi against all claims arising from any breach of these representations, per Section 18.

10.3 Cover Art, Banners, Portraits & Uploaded Imagery

Writers upload images to Stage: cover art, banners, author portraits, and storefront imagery. You represent and warrant that you own or have licensed every image you upload, for the purpose of public display on Plotmi. This means, specifically:

  • You may not upload images found through a search engine, taken from another book, film, or website, or generated from copyrighted characters or trademarks.
  • If you commissioned artwork, you must hold a license that permits public display on a platform such as Plotmi. Many commission agreements do not.
  • If you used stock imagery, you must comply with that stock license, including any attribution or editorial-use-only restriction.
  • If you used an AI image generator, you are responsible for the output, including any resemblance it bears to a protected work, a trademark, or a real person's likeness.
  • You may not upload an image containing an identifiable person without that person's consent.

Plotmi may remove any image at any time, with or without notice, and is under no obligation to review images before display. Repeated infringement is grounds for termination. Copyright owners may submit takedown requests under our DMCA Policy.

10.4 Reader Participation — Stamps, Seals, and Notes

Readers respond to individual passages using stamps, seals, and written notes. All of this is User Content under Section 4, submitted by the reader, and the reader is solely responsible for it.

  • Notes and public reactions are visible to the writer and to other readers of the work. Reactions marked private are visible only to the writer and to the reader who left them.
  • Reactions are attributed to the reader's handle and are not anonymous.
  • A reader's reaction is that reader's opinion. It is not Plotmi's opinion, not a review commissioned by Plotmi, and not a statement Plotmi endorses or verifies.
  • Stamps, seals, and any collectible or badge earned through Stage have no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred, or redeemed.
  • Writers must not retaliate against honest reader responses, solicit favorable reactions, offer anything of value in exchange for reactions, or coordinate reaction campaigns. Doing so is grounds for termination.

10.5 Reader Consent Before Participating

Before reacting to a work, a reader is shown a consent notice describing what their reactions are, who sees them, and the conduct standard that applies. Proceeding past that notice constitutes your agreement to this Section and to Section 12. If you do not agree, do not react.

10.6 Interaction Limits

Plotmi enforces limits on Stage participation, currently including a cap on stamps and seals per passage, a cap on notes per passage, a rate limit on notes over time, and a limit of one voice note per work. These limits are published in the Stage Community Guidelines and may change at any time without notice. Circumventing them — through automation, multiple accounts, or otherwise — is grounds for immediate termination.

10.7 Reader Voice Notes

A reader who finishes a work may record a single voice note for its writer. By recording a voice note you acknowledge and agree to all of the following:

  • Voice notes are optional. Nothing on Stage requires you to record one.
  • Your recording is transcribed by an automated third-party service for the purposes of moderation and delivery. Transcription is not optional if you choose to record.
  • Your transcript is screened against automated classifiers and Plotmi's prohibited-content lists before the writer receives the recording.
  • If your voice note passes screening, the writer receives the audio. If it does not, the writer never hears it, the recording and transcript are retained by Plotmi, and the matter is referred for human review.
  • A voice note that produces no intelligible transcript, or that fails processing for technical reasons, is withheld from the writer and referred for review. Plotmi will not deliver unscreened audio.
  • Your voice is biometric-adjacent personal data in some jurisdictions. Retention, deletion, and your rights over it are described in the Privacy Policy. You may request deletion of your voice notes at any time by contacting support@plotmi.com.
  • Plotmi does not sell voice data and does not use voice recordings or their transcripts to train machine learning models.
  • Voice notes are delivered to one person: the writer of that work. Plotmi does not publish them to the wider readership.

Recording another person's voice, a copyrighted performance, or audio you do not have the right to submit is prohibited.

10.8 Automated Moderation & Screening

Plotmi applies automated screening to reader-submitted content on Stage. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Written notes are screened at the moment of submission and may be rejected before they are ever stored or displayed.
  • Voice notes are transcribed and the transcript is screened, as described in Section 10.7.
  • Screening uses a combination of pattern matching against prohibited-term lists and third-party machine classification of intent, including classification for threats, harassment, hate speech, sexual content involving minors, and encouragement of self-harm.
  • Third-party processors receive the text or audio necessary to perform this screening. See the Privacy Policy for the current list of processors.
  • Screening is automated and imperfect. Plotmi does not warrant that it detects all prohibited content, and Plotmi is not liable for content that passes screening or for permitted content that screening rejects.
  • Plotmi may retain screened content, transcripts, and classification results for enforcement, appeal, legal-compliance, and safety purposes, including after the underlying content is deleted.
  • Plotmi may report content to law enforcement where required by law or where Plotmi believes in good faith there is a risk of serious harm. Content constituting child sexual abuse material will be reported to the appropriate authorities, and the account terminated, without notice.

10.9 Reporting, Restriction & Removal

Any reader may report a reaction. Plotmi may, at its sole discretion and without notice, restrict the visibility of reported content, hide it pending review, remove it permanently, or take no action at all. Reporting content in bad faith — to silence a reader, to bury criticism, or as coordinated retaliation — is itself a violation of these Terms.

Plotmi does not guarantee that any report will be reviewed within any particular timeframe, or reviewed at all. Plotmi is a small platform. Section 17 applies.

10.10 Writer Moderation Powers

The writer of a work may, within that work:

  • Delete any reader reaction or voice note, permanently and without notice to the reader who left it.
  • Mute a reader, preventing that reader from reacting to any of the writer's works. The reader may still read the work and is not notified.
  • Block a reader, with the same effect, and Plotmi is notified for review.

These powers belong to the writer and are exercised at the writer's discretion. Plotmi does not adjudicate a writer's decision to delete a reaction or silence a reader in the writer's own room. If you leave a reaction and it disappears, you have no claim against Plotmi or against the writer. If you believe a writer is abusing these powers — for example, muting readers as retaliation, or curating reactions to misrepresent reception — report it to support@plotmi.com.

A writer's moderation of their own room does not relieve Plotmi of, nor transfer to the writer, any obligation Plotmi has under applicable law. Plotmi retains the right to overrule any writer moderation decision, to restore removed content, and to remove content a writer has chosen to keep.

10.11 Stage Insights & Engagement Data

When you read a work on Stage, Plotmi records how the work is read. This includes which passages are viewed, how far into the work readers progress, where readers stop, and which passages are reacted to.

Plotmi presents this information to the writer of that work through the Stage Insights dashboard in aggregate form only. A writer can see how many readers reached a given passage, how many stopped, and which lines drew the most reactions. A writer cannot see which individual reader stopped reading, how far any named reader progressed, or how long any named reader spent on a passage. Reading behavior is not attributed to you.

Your handle appears to the writer only on content you chose to create and attribute: stamps, seals, written notes, and voice notes. Those are things you elected to say to the writer. Your reading behavior is not.

  • By reading a work on Stage, you consent to the collection described above and to its disclosure to that work's writer in aggregate form.
  • Plotmi uses the same data, in aggregate and de-identified form, to build the behavioral analytics and reader reports described in Section 9.
  • Where very few readers have opened a work, aggregate figures may be small enough that a writer could infer an individual's behavior. Plotmi may withhold or suppress aggregate panels below a minimum reader count to reduce this risk, but cannot eliminate it.
  • Engagement data is subjective, incomplete, and technically imperfect. It measures scrolling and timing, not comprehension, enjoyment, or opinion. Writers must not treat it as either.
  • Writers may not use any Stage data to harass, contact, pressure, or retaliate against an individual reader. Doing so is grounds for immediate termination.
  • Plotmi may change what Insights displays. Plotmi will not begin attributing reading behavior to individual readers without updating these Terms and notifying users under Section 21.
  • Your rights over this data, including access and deletion, are described in the Privacy Policy and the GDPR Policy.

10.12 Plotmi Library & Public Libraries

A reader's Library is private by default. A reader may make their Library publicly visible, in which case the works it contains, and any works marked as favorites, become visible to other Plotmi users.

  • Making your Library public discloses your reading taste. Reading history can reveal sensitive things about a person — health, sexuality, religion, politics, and more. Consider that before you toggle it.
  • You may make your Library private again at any time. Plotmi cannot recall copies, screenshots, or caches made while it was public.
  • Readers may recommend works to other named readers. A recommendation discloses to the recipient that you sent it. Sending unwanted, repeated, or harassing recommendations is a violation of Section 12.

10.13 Free Use, Storefronts & External Links

Plotmi is free to use. Reading on Stage, publishing a work to Stage, the Circle, Vibes, Libraries, storefront profiles, stamps, seals, notes, and voice notes are provided at no charge. Plotmi offers certain optional paid products, which are described and priced at the point of purchase and governed by Section 11. Nothing in these Terms requires you to purchase anything to read or publish on Stage.

Plotmi does not sell a writer's work. Plotmi does not process payment for a writer's book, is not the merchant of record for it, takes no commission on it, and offers no subscription to Stage or to any individual writer's work. Any purchase of a writer's work occurs on a third-party site, under that site's terms.

Storefronts and Profile Spotlights

A writer may purchase an optional Profile Spotlight, which presents a single work on the writer's profile — cover, logline, release date, and an external buy link. Spotlights are optional paid products and, where offered on a recurring basis, auto-renew until canceled from account settings, per Section 11.4. All Spotlight submissions are reviewed by Plotmi before going live. Plotmi may decline any submission, for any reason, without explanation, and may review, restrict, or remove a live Spotlight at any time thereafter.

External Links

Buy links and any other external links on a storefront belong to the writer, not to Plotmi.

  • Plotmi does not review, verify, or endorse any external link, retailer, price, availability, or claim made on the other side of it.
  • Once you leave Plotmi, that site's terms and privacy policy govern your visit, not ours.
  • Plotmi may restrict which external domains may be linked, may remove any link at any time, and may disable external links entirely within native mobile applications in order to comply with third-party app store requirements.
  • You may not link to a site that infringes copyright, distributes pirated material or malware, or violates Section 10.14.
  • A storefront link may be shared outside Plotmi. Sharing it is the writer's choice and the writer's risk.

Paid Placement

Plotmi separately offers optional promotional placement across its surfaces, including the Circle and Vibes, under Section 11.

  • Placement is advertising. It buys visibility, and nothing else.
  • Some placements are one-time. Others recur until canceled. Cancellation ends the next run, not a run already in progress, and does not entitle you to a partial refund.
  • Placements are submitted for review and go live only if Plotmi approves them. Plotmi may decline any submission, for any reason, without explanation.
  • Where a placement slot is exclusive and currently held, you may be placed on a waitlist. A waitlist position is not a reservation, guarantees nothing, may be reordered or cleared at Plotmi's discretion, and carries no charge.
  • Plotmi makes no representation or warranty as to impressions, clicks, sales, reviews, followers, or any other outcome. Placement is not a promise of performance.
  • Work featured through paid placement is reviewed for suitability, but is not editorially curated or endorsed by Plotmi. Featuring a work is not a statement about its merit.
  • Plotmi may remove a live placement at any time if the work, its imagery, or its destination link violates these Terms. Removal for violation does not entitle you to a refund.

Refund eligibility for all paid products is governed by the Refund Policy.

10.14 Zero Tolerance

The following, whether in a note, a voice note, a handle, a storefront, or a work published to Stage, will result in immediate and permanent termination of your account, on the first instance, without warning, without appeal, and without any right to create a further account:

  • Harassment, stalking, or intimidation of any user.
  • Threats of violence against any person.
  • Slurs or hate speech targeting race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
  • Sexual content involving minors, in any form, including textual, illustrated, or generated depictions.
  • Doxxing or publication of another person's private information.
  • Encouraging or instructing any person to harm themselves.

Plotmi determines in its sole discretion whether conduct falls within this Section. Nothing in this Section limits Plotmi's rights under Section 20 to suspend or terminate an account for any other reason.

10.15 Unpublishing, Deletion & Persistence

A writer may unpublish a Stage work at any time. On unpublishing, Plotmi ceases to display the work on public surfaces.

  • Plotmi cannot recall copies already made by readers, cached by browsers or intermediaries, indexed by third parties, or captured by anyone holding a share link. Unpublishing is prospective, not retroactive.
  • Reader reactions and voice notes attached to an unpublished work are retained and remain accessible to the reader who created them, and to Plotmi for moderation, enforcement, and legal-compliance purposes.
  • Deleting your account does not delete reactions you left on other people's works, which may remain, and does not delete content Plotmi is required to retain by law or has retained for enforcement purposes.
  • Plotmi may retain screened, flagged, or reported content indefinitely for safety and legal purposes, notwithstanding any deletion request.

10.16 No Endorsement, No Warranty

Plotmi does not review, verify, endorse, rate, or vouch for any work published to Stage, any claim a writer makes about a work, any storefront, any external link, or any reader reaction. Stage is a venue. Section 17 (Limitation of Liability) applies in full to everything that happens on it, including disputes between a writer and a reader, disputes between readers, and any harm arising from content published by another user.

11. Payments, Subscriptions & Refunds

11.1 Paid Features

Plotmi offers paid features including but not limited to: full reports, premium subscriptions (Plotmi Elite), profile takeovers, Vibes promos, Circle promos, and writer-to-reader engagements. Pricing for each feature is displayed at the point of purchase and may change over time.

11.2 Payment Processing

Payments are processed by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe). By making a payment, you agree to the terms of the applicable payment processor. Plotmi does not store full credit card details on its own servers.

11.3 Refunds

Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy. By making a purchase, you agree to that policy.

11.4 Subscription Renewals

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled before the renewal date. You can cancel a subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

11.5 Currency & Taxes

All prices are displayed in U.S. dollars unless otherwise indicated. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or fees in your jurisdiction.

12. Community Conduct & Moderation

Plotmi exists because writers and readers trust each other. To protect that trust, the following conduct is strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment, threats, intimidation, or stalking of any user.
  • Hate speech, slurs, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or age.
  • Doxxing or revealing private information about other users.
  • Impersonation of other users, public figures, agents, producers, or Plotmi staff.
  • Manipulating engagement metrics through fake accounts, bots, coordinated voting, or vote-trading schemes.
  • Soliciting users to move conversations or transactions off-platform in order to circumvent Plotmi.
  • Spam, advertising unrelated services, or promotional schemes outside Plotmi's intended uses.
  • Posting content unrelated to books, films, TV, or Plotmi (per the community rule displayed in the Circle).

Plotmi reserves the right to moderate, remove, or limit visibility of any content or account at its sole discretion. We may issue warnings, suspend, or terminate accounts for violations.

13. Plotmi Games & Stamps

Plotmi includes gamified features — the Plotmi Prediction Game, the Letters game (P-L-O-T-M-I), stamps, weekly recurring posts (Recaps, Pretentious, Romantic, Throwback, Friday Confessions, Midnight Madness, Blockbuster, Page Turner, Salutes, and others), and reaction-based community games.

  • Game outcomes, stamps, and digital rewards have no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred, or exchanged.
  • Plotmi may modify, retire, or replace games and rewards at any time.
  • Attempting to manipulate game outcomes through cheating, multi-accounting, or automation is grounds for termination and forfeiture of all earned items.
  • Physical or digital prizes awarded through games are subject to additional terms communicated at the time of the promotion.

14. Third-Party Services

Plotmi integrates with third-party services for functions including but not limited to: payment processing (Stripe), authentication (Supabase), email delivery, AI transcription, cover image lookups (TMDB, Google Books, Open Library), and analytics. Your use of those features may also be governed by the terms of those third-party providers.

Plotmi is not responsible for the practices, content, or policies of third-party services. We do, however, take care in selecting providers and require them to handle user data responsibly. See the Privacy Policy for more detail.

15. Intellectual Property — Plotmi's Rights

All Plotmi technology, design, branding, code, analytics systems, game mechanics, stamp imagery, copy, layouts, and proprietary features are the property of Plotmi or its licensors. You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, modify, or create derivative works based on Plotmi's intellectual property.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code.
  • Use Plotmi branding, name, or logos without express written permission.
  • Build a competing product using insights, designs, or systems learned from Plotmi.

16. DMCA & Copyright Complaints

Plotmi respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content on Plotmi infringes your copyright, please review and follow our DMCA Policy to submit a takedown request.

17. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • Plotmi provides the platform "AS-IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
  • Plotmi does not guarantee uptime, uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or any specific outcomes from using the platform.
  • Plotmi is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities, or loss of goodwill, even if advised of the possibility.
  • Plotmi's total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Plotmi in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US$100.

18. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Plotmi, its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:

  • Your use of the platform.
  • Your User Content.
  • Your violation of these Terms or any incorporated policy.
  • Your violation of any third-party right, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
  • Your interactions with other users.

19. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

19.1 Informal Resolution First

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact us at support@plotmi.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. Most disputes can be resolved this way.

19.2 Binding Arbitration

Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Arbitration will take place in California, United States of America.

19.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to bring claims only in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class action or representative proceeding. You waive your right to a jury trial.

19.4 Exceptions

This arbitration clause does not preclude you from bringing issues to the attention of federal, state, or local agencies, and it does not apply to claims for injunctive relief related to intellectual property or NDA violations.

19.5 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

20. Account Suspension & Termination

20.1 By You

You may close your account at any time through your settings or by contacting support@plotmi.com. Closing your account does not entitle you to refunds for unused subscription time except as required by our Refund Policy.

20.2 By Plotmi

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or any incorporated policy, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. We may also remove or restrict access to specific content.

20.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your right to access the platform ceases immediately.
  • Your confidentiality obligations under the NDA continue indefinitely.
  • Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, liability limitations, indemnification, dispute resolution) shall survive.
  • We may delete your account data subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

21. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email, in-app notice, or both, at least 30 days prior to the changes taking effect (unless changes are required by law or for security reasons, in which case shorter notice may apply). Your continued use of Plotmi after the effective date of any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the platform.

22. Beta Features & Experimental Tools

Plotmi may release features marked as "beta," "preview," "experimental," or similar designations. These features are provided as-is and may be modified, restricted, or removed at any time without notice. Bugs, errors, or downtime in beta features do not give rise to refunds or claims. Confidentiality and other applicable terms still apply to beta features.

23. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to be enforceable.

24. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, NDA, Refund Policy, Cookies Policy, DMCA Policy, GDPR Policy, and any other policies incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and Plotmi regarding your use of the platform. They supersede all prior agreements, communications, and proposals.

25. No Waiver

Plotmi's failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of that provision or any other. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by Plotmi.

26. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights granted under them without our prior written consent. Plotmi may assign these Terms freely, including to any successor entity or as part of a merger or acquisition.

27. Force Majeure

Plotmi is not liable for delays or failures in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, internet outages, third-party service outages, or government action.

28. Notices

Notices to you may be sent to the email address associated with your account or posted within the platform. Notices to Plotmi must be sent to support@plotmi.com.
